Just out of a local estate and up for auction is this VINTAGE LUDWIG SNARE DRUM RADIO KING LEATHER SKIN.The name Ludwig Trademark is incised on the metal under the rim. On the skin is stamped in black: Radio King, Genuine calf leather. I see no serial number. T are ten lugs. It is 14 ½ inches wide and 6 inches in depth. In the light I can see three pinholes in the leather. T are two small square leather pieces not sure what that is. The other side skin is not leather and it is like a vinyl and is torn from rim to rim. This drum is in fair used condition. Needs cleaning. I have no idea about metal finishes, the pictures will show discoloration and rust, I don’t see flaking. Some tarnish I believe. The snare has 12 strands, I can not make out the name in the strand tension lever. The name SHAPPI SNARES is on the metal piece that the ties are attached to, ALSO James Pat.1207825 Please see pictures for more details, and don’t hesitate to ask questions.
