~ Gorgeous Old Madeira Work ~ This is a vintage linen bedspread with lots of Madeira embroidery, Richelieu work, tiny eyelet work, lushly padded satin stitching and seed work done in white thread. It measures 82" long x 64" wide & has scalloped edges on 3 sides and the top is hand hemmed. This comes from the estate in Austin w he had been in the military and they traveled the world, I purchased a great deal of Madeira embroidered items from him and so far I've found 2 that I assumed were tablecloths and they are bedspreads! He thought they were tablecloths also-though he said he hadn't been in charge of the linens! :) I have a great deal more from this estate that I'll be listing in the next couple of days. CONDITION: I've not laundered this as it's been cleanly stored. This does have some little issues. It has 4-5 places were the linen has pulled away from the embroidered edge-the worst one is shown with a penny; t are a couple of spots and some wear around a couple of the floral embroiderys and maybe a break or 2 in the bars of the Richelieu work. Please see the penny photos. It's a lovely piece for the collector, I have another one that is just as pretty which is about the same size which I'll be listing also.
