I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions and recently found some great items, including lots and lots of beautiful vintage linens. Now for the fine linens: this is a Madeira set of a tea tablecloth and four matching napkins. They are made of a combination of sheer organdy and finely woven linen in the typical Madeira pattern of scalloped-edge linen around an organdy center. The tablecloth measures 35" square and each of the four napkins measures 11" square. They are a pale grey color, very neutral. The pattern on these includes an embroidered and appliqued bellflower motif, with stylized stems and nodding, pendant flowers - very lovely! The tablecloth has one flower motif in each corner and also a larger cluster of four flowers on each quadrant, so that the center of the tablecloth has the largest decoration. The napkins are solid linen with an organdy inset at one corner with the same bellflower motif in applique and embroidery. Please use the zoom function to examine the pattern closely: it's quite beautiful.I have laundered and pressed these and found the fabric to be sound. These are in excellent condition with no holes or stains or rips, but there is one small pale spot near the edge of the tablecloth, as shown in the last photo. In the same estate I found some great Marghab linens, so please check my other listings too read more
