for sale is a marantz SLT-12 linear tracking turntable. it is in excellent condition. i am the third owner, and the second to listen to it (the second owner just kept it in storage). the SLT-12 was the first linear tracking turntable that was not used as a record cutting lathe. designed by marantz when saul marantz was still at the helm, this seems to be a later serial number, made in the superscope era. the rest of the system this played through was purchased in the fall of 1965, so i'd guess the turntable is from that same timeframe. you can read more about the turntable here: /2010/12/marantz-slt-12.html the table works perfectly, including all the lights on the buttons. it must be kept perfectly level on both axes to work properly: the linear tracking arm, being entirely mechanical, relies on a level surface to stay in balance. there is a line level to work in conjunction with the adjustable foot (side to side), but it is possible some shimming would be necessary to get it level front to back on your surface. a bubble level would also help. the hysteresis synchronous motor makes a bit of noise on startup but i couldn't hear any background noise from the table when i was listening to it through my mcintosh mc240/mx110 combination. it has its original belt, and gets to speed in about two seconds; replacement belts are available read more
