Vintage Studio Pottery Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage studio art pottery vase by the listed California artist, Margo Elberg. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This pot has incised sgraffito-carved decoration. The exterior is glazed dark brown, and the interior has a contrasting tan glaze. The pot has a small opening, with a bulbous body. The reddish clay body is visible beneath. This item stands approximately 5 3/4 inches tall; it has a maximum width of about 4 3/8 inches. Unpacked, it weighs about 1 pound 4.7 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of vintage American studio ceramics. Identification This pot is signed beneath, "Margo." It is by the San Francisco Bay area potter, Margo Elberg. Elberg is listed in the Vasefinder online museum. Per Vasefinder, Margo Elberg exhibited at the Pacific Coast Ceramic Exhibition and Sale, at the Association of San Francisco Potters, and at the Nationals in 1946 and 1949. Per additional online research, Elberg was born in 1918. Elberg attended the San Francisco Art Institute, Mills College, and the College of Marin. She and her husband, Harold, owned Marrell Studios which produced art metal objects, many of which were sold at Gump's.
