This auction is for a large panel, 56" X 110", of Mariano Fortuny's Lucrezia pattern. I believe the color way is green on ivory. The Lucrezia pattern is a 17th Century style named after a painting by Rembrandt. My information for pattern and color is from Olde World Pillows, they have a wonderful web catalog of Fortuny patterns and colors.
This fabric is from draperies that were in a local Montecito estate. My friend, an antique dealer, purchased the curtains and had his seamstress remove the stitching. He told me that the other furnishings in the home were dated from the 1960's. T is no way to know the age or origin of this Fortuny fabric if the drapes were made at that time. I have sold several panels from these draperies to very happy customers. I know now that he has at least two more panels, so if you are wanting to do a large project this would be good for you. The 56" X 110" panel has carefully removed side seams and hems, some threads remain. The top of the fabric has the most stitching removed w the fabric was pleated. Below those top 5", t is gentle fading and some yellowed stripes. I have photographed the color changes; and, the most extreme differences including combinations of front and back. This panel is unique in that it has 4 small holes on the upper left corner. T are no other flaws that I can find. What I love most about this fabric is that it has never been washed. I can actually feel the strokes of the hand painting. I am not concerned about the yellowed stripes as they will disappear with a wash. I have tried very hard to give you photographs with true color. The hand painted colors can actually appear blue/green on parchment in some light. It changes, just like my Pacific Ocean outside my window. I have also made sure to show you the fading and yellowed stripes. I hope I also showed you the luxury and beauty of Fortuny's Lucrezia. If you are not familiar with the beautiful thick cotton fabrics of Fortuny; or have forgotten the mysterious legend of the man and his printing process, t are some wonderful websites about him. I will be happy to answer any questions and/or combine shipping. I always ship Fortuny for free within the U.S.A..
