This auction is for a vintage Marius banjo, mandolin or banjo/mandolin and it is in nice all around shape and plays well! It has 8 strings so I am leaning towards banjo/mandolin but it could be any of the three, I am just not sure. Couldn't find much on Marius except for one person associated with banjos and mandolins in the 19th century so it may be that old but the information is just too sketchy. T is a repair on the metal rim but it is only cosmetic and doesn't affect the playing and full rich resonance at all. The wood is in great shape for it's age and is some type of hard wood, maybe mahogany which was used alot back then. It is 23" tall and 10" wide. The skin is in great shape also with no tears. All 8 strings are t but I do not know if they are original. Overall, a great vintage string instrument in pretty nice shape. Well that's it so check the pictures and e-mail me with your questions before bidding. Also check for any posted questions as they automatically become part of the description. As usual, low starting bid for such an unbelievable vintage find and of course NO RESERVE!!! Thanks for looking and good luck.
