5-day listing ... ends SATURDAY (USA) Auction open to International bidders An almost NEW-looking MARTIN MAGNA CORNET. From the Wurlitzer-era production, at the original MARTIN factory works, prior to the buy-out by Holton / LeBlanc. RARE rose-brass bell (for smoother tone). The horn looks NEW ... other than a few miniscule 'pings' and 'dinglets'. The only lacquer-wear I see is on one valve-cap (!). The valves look breathtakingly NEW (and compression is super !). This horn is CRAZY CLEAN ! Still has original springs, corks and felts. ( change them if you wish ). It is missing the lyre, case, mouthpiece and 3rd-slide stop-rod ( in same state as I acquired the horn ). The horn is the Medium-Large Bore size. I acquired this horn, along with another similar MAGNA CORNET. THAT ONE I wish to keep. It is the even rarer X-Large (.468") bore. Not as clean as this horn, and was set-up for a 'lefty'.You are probably wondering how this horn plays? Glad you asked. I am a MARTIN collector. Have had maybe 50 or more; mostly Committees, including Committee Cornets and Fleugelhorns. This MAGNA has the "Committee Tone", only a little more robust and slightly 'darker' (if you can believe it). It seems to sound somewhere between the MARTIN Fleugel, and the Committee Cornets. I feel I can get fuller pedal-tones (low register), without the dreaded 'tubbyness'
