Ceramic Artist Mary Kirk Kelly of Fairhope, Alabama, produces these amazing porcelain vegetables & fruits. Both her artistry and painstaking attention to detail are obvious. Each is made by hand from earthenware or porcelain clay in liquid form (slip). Ms. Kelly hand sculpts the green ware, then paints it before bisque firing. After firing, she brushes or sponges metallic oxide colorants to capture the realism so highly prized by collectors. Generally her work sells in the $175.00 to $300.00 range (per piece), depending on the intricacy of the design. Her larger vegetables sell for 800.00-$2300.00! These look beautiful in a curio, on a windowsill, etc.No nicks or chips on this piece. This is a stunning piece, the leaves on top are very intricate and delicate, SIGNED on the underside of leaf.
