This vintage brunette Ponytail Barbie doll was produced in1960 by Mattel in Japan. Her butt markings read: Barbie T.M. Pats.Pend. (c)MCMLVIII by Mattel Inc. The doll was purchased from the original owner 20 years ago. I intended to get her hair restyled but never got around to it. There is a pea sized portion of flocking missing from her scalp but this won't show once her pony is retied. Her heavy vinyl has paled as is usual with #3s but she is more of a light beige rather than ivory. Her face paint is still in very good condition with only rubs to her eye ridges and a faint rub to one corner of her top lip. The rest of her face paint, including her brown eye liner and red nostrils are intact. She has almost all of her finger nail paint and about 50% of her toe nail paint. Her limbs are nice and tight and she is without green ear or neck splits. She does have darkened earring holes but they have not worsened in the 20 years that I have had her. Her body is in great shape and her minor flaws that can be seen under a magnifying glass are: She has a couple of pricks in the crook of one arm. There is faint dimpling to one thigh and one upper arm. She has a black pin dot on the back of one thigh, a tiny stain at the top of the front of one thigh and a faint black mark to the back of one calf.
