VINTAGE 1896 MCKINLEY-HOBART POLITICAL PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN PINBACK PIN

We are pleased to offer for auction an extremely rare genuine and authentic vintage 1896 Presidential Campaign Pinback featuring Presidential Candidate William McKinley and his Vice-Presidential running mate Garret Hobart. We all know they won the 1896 election. At the outset, I want to make it perfectly clear this is an original, genuine and authentic pinback of its time nearly 112 years ago! This is not a reproduction. I don't buy, sell, or collect any reproductions of any kind!!! I also up front apologize for the length of this description, however, I wanted to be thorough of this important and valuable piece of our history.

This one of a kind political pin was given to me by a very long time historical and political collector and enthusiast prior to his death at the young age of 98 years. He lived less than 1 block from my family, and we considered him as a family member always being with us to share all of the holidays and other days of the year. I would always stop by to check on him to make sure all was OK and drove him to places as he did not own or drive a car. He made it abundantly clear to me this pinback could be the only one which survived its time.

The circular pin measures 1" in diameter and is made of some type of metal. On the front side it features in relief a raised bust of McKinley in the middle of the pin surrounded around the entire perimeter of slightly overlapping raised circular designs with what looks like coins or eagles within the perimeter circles. The reverse side shows a bust of Hobart in the middle within a raised beaded circle. Around the perimeter on this side it is stated in raised letters, "*MCKINLEY HOBART*IN GOLD WE TRUST*. We will take the best close-up photos possible so you can view all the details on both sides, evaluate the pinback, and pass your own judgment on this very unique old pinback. During my research of this pinback, I learned of an event which makes this presidential pin even more significant and valuable! That is, Vice President Hobart's death early in office of a heart attack.
