METTLACH VB (Villeroy & Boch) BEER BIER STEIN For auction is a vintage / antique tankard beer (bier) stein from Mettlach/Villeroy & Boch. The stein stands 7 1/4 inches tall to the lip of the stein (about 10 inche tall overall) and has a 3 inch rim diameter. It is marked 1/2 L. The bottom is stamped METTLACH VB GES. GESCH. 2580. T are also a Roman numeral II, the number 6 and the number 99 stamped on the bottom of the stein. The castel tower-shaped stein has magnificent artwork and is decorated with knights, a lady and a jester celebrating with drink. The artist's name Heinrich Schlitt is signed on the piece. The dome of the lid (castle tower roof) is made of porcelain/ceramic. The dome is attached to a metal band that is part of the lid hinge. A sentinel knight is poised on top of the handle ready to blow his horn at the first sight of danger. The stein is in Excellent condition. The owner of this piece requested that we put a modest reserve of $500 on the stein. We are acting as trading assistants.
