This auction is for a Large, Signed, Heavy Beautiful Vintage Mexican Sterling Aztec Calendar Motif Brooch / Pendant, made in Mexico City.

This versatile piece has both a pin with locking clasp and a heavy silver bale on the back so that it can be worn as either a brooch or a pendant.

The solid sterling silver pendant / brooch is 2 1/8" in diameter and just over 1 MM thick. oneof the photos shows the large size relative to a US dime. The brooch weighs 32.55 grams and has a nice heavy feel. The front has a very detailed rendering of an Aztec calendar in high relief.

The back is marked "STERLING MEXICO DF 925". The DF is for Districto Federal indicating the piece was made in Mexico City. T is also a three initial signature but the letters are hard to make out. I was not able to find out specifically when the piece was made.
