This is a very gently pre-owned vintage aviation art piece from Michael Garman Products, Inc. This is the “High Flight” table top piece from the military sculpture collection. It consists of the famous AVIATOR bust dated 1973 mounted on a wooden base with brass plaque. The heavy cast bust measures approximately 7.5” by 6.5” by 4” and features an antique bronze finish and bears the name of the artist and date 1973. The wooden base measures approximate 11? By 8” by 1.25” and has a light BROWN stain finish, felt feet and Michael Garman Prod. Inc. decal. The engraved brass plaque contains the verse “High Flight" by Pilot-Officer John Gillespie Magee Jr. It reads “Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark or even eagle flew -- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.” This great piece is perfect for read more
