Amazing mid century modern piece of history. Handmade necklace by metalsmith Elsa Freund. She was an early pioneer in mid century and the handcrafted jewelry movement. Know for abrstact enameled ceramic also know as Elsaramic. She started designing jewelry in the late 40's and 50's This piece is signed and in excellent condition. Metal is sterling silver pendant is navy blue ceramic with turquoise, yellow, orange and cobalt blue. A true work of art and history her pieces are in a number of important american museums. 18" long chain pendant is 2" long 1 1/2" wide. I've had this piece for over 20 years and never wore it in excellent shape.
