Vintage miniature Tsang-ihang cachou (sweet ) tin Approx 5.5cm x 3.5cm x 1.5cm deep tin An attractive young oriental lady lounges seductively on large silk cushions. Designed to be carried in a lady's reticule or purse these little tins contained cachous, designed to sweeten the breath. This was very necessary when it was considered very sophisticated to smoke and most people did so, unaware of the dangers. The Tsang Ihang Cachou, according to the underside of the tin, 'agreeably perfumes and purifies the breath. Possesses great antispetic qualities'. Needless to say cachous weren't very tasty,although they smelt nice. This is an attractive little memento of a bygone era.
