This is a wonderfully modernistic piece of fabric designed by Serge Ivan Chermayeff. This famous British archetect came to the United States in 1940 to found the American Society of Archetects and Planners. He, at one time was the director of the Institute of Design in Chicago. He was definitely one of the main characters in the British Modernistic Movement. The fabric measures 27x51. It is a partial panel. It has been slightly unevenly cut. The title is "INSIDE OUT" . It has the words New York City on one of the selvage edges. Copy writed and has his logo name. The name of the fabric co has been cut off but the name MAIX FABRICS remains. The colors are fantastic. You can tell this piece has never been washed. It has vibrant reds, black, and grey on an ecru background. I would say it shows a modernistic impression of NYC. On the edge w his name is t are some letters and words written in ink--I suppose by the design decorator using this fabric originally. This in on the edge and in no way detracts from the art. This would make a wonderful piece framed. A unique addition to your archetectural collection or art. If you are into "modern" at all you will absolutely love this fabric. Your friends will be so envious. I accept only accept money orders and cashier's checks at this time. I will ship immediately upon payment. Insurance is suggested and liability is that of the buyers. Thank you. This fabric is not flimsy. I think it is a type of upholstery fabric and is quite sturdy. It would look great on a chrome chair or would make stunning pillow covers.
