Beautiful MOTOROLA Portable Record Player/Changer Model SP29-E Vintage Early 1960's Tube Amplified Portable................. Project started out as a parts only unit, but the cabinet and speaker boxes were in too good of condition to just let it wither away....... The complete system was dismantled, mostly to eradicate any foul odors which these are notorious for gathering......and inspected for any flaws or faulty components. The original amp was missing as well as many trim parts. Every missing component was replaced with the correct part. Turntable was replaced with a correct model from my parts shelves. Please check the last 2 pictures to see what I started with... You are only bidding on the MOTOROLA record player Model SP 29-E, my restored 1952 Seeburg Model C jukebox is not for sale......Sorry! In my restorations, faulty, leaking or weak tubes are always replaced with Motorola brand, whenever possible, and checked for matching impedance for optimum performance. Cabinet was disinfected , reglued and cleaned inside and out and it looks great! T are few wear spots that remain , but those are in the rear and are hardly worth mentioning. This record player is approaching 50 years old and just like us, will show a little age over time. I took plenty of pictures to show you exactly what you are bidding on. Several people were asking what the speaker boxes looked like or how the covering on the top was. I tried to shine a bright light on it and what you see is a lot of reflection,especially around the hinges and speaker sides, but that is just the flash. T is slight discoloration on the top and some snags, but overall it still retains it's beauty! Original leather look vinyl covering was treated with a carnuba wax for added protection and buffed to a brilliant shine. Turntable was replaced with the correct model, cleaned, lubricated,calibrated and a new ceramic low profile cartridge and diamond needle installed. NOTE.....This cartridge assembly is a bit lighter and easier on your treasured vinyl! Note...before any cosmetic restoration is started, all mechanical and electronic components are either replaced or rebuilt. I do not just "re-vitalize" idler wheels for example. That does not last . I inspect diameter with a micrometer and replace with new if neccesary. Turntables are not supposed to start with a "push" That indicates a problem. T should be no hum or static when operating any amplifier. Controls should be quiet and smooth when used. Staining on top surfaces should be at a minimum. Everybody makes mistakes and spills things, however, staining on vertical surfaces,brown spots on the inside covering, discolored or stained grille cloth indicate moisture,or worse, mildew. The worst places to store these are in a unheated basement or hot attic. These are meant to be in areas with controlled humidity and heated environments. Basically, the same areas that we live in..... Wood cabinets,if left in moisture laden areas absorb moisture within and produce mold and mildew.............very hard,if not impossible to erradicate. This one of the reasons I dismantle my cabinets completely. Brass appointments, hinge and trim were polished and everything looks and performs like new. This model has the cool twist knob located on the top which locks your speakers and lid closed. Once completed, this beauty was bench tested for at least 24hrs and performs flawlessly! As always....I also will include a NEW cartridge and needle assembly in addition to the one installed, to insure many, many hours of playing pleasure! This particular Motorola model was their best available and has the revolutionary 3 channel amplifier which has 3 separate channels.... bass, left and right.
