This is a listing for an early Navajo silver ring featuring a large natural turquoise stone from the Bisbee mine in Arizona. It's in excellent vintage to antique condition with no damage to the stone or the silver mounting. It isn't marked, which is expected with these earlier pieces and tested as sterling. The face of the ring measures approximately an inch in width and length with a rounded stone that is .75 inches across in both directions. So it's a good sized ring, holding a nice sized stone. It's a size 9 and weighs a sturdy 11.3 grams. The turquoise from this mine is no longer available and highly desirable. The site had become dangerous and the owners had it buried. The stone in this ring has a beautiful rich blue color which is enhanced by the gorgeous woodsy brown matrix. A few tiny specks of silver pyrite add a delightful finishing touch to this wonderful stone. The stone was cut into a free form rounded shape, not perfectly symmetrical, which adds to it's charm and sense of age. It has a fairly high dome, is very hard with no exposed matrix or surface damage of any kind and it has a wonderful natural looking polish. The artist kept the ornamentation simple with a smooth tight bezel and twisted rope surround. The band is made from flattened wire that splits at the shank.
