This is a vintage handmade native american basket. I believe it is Navajo because of the 8 sided star and the cross on the lid. It has excellent workmanship and detail. The bands of weaving are 1/8 of an inch wide on the outside of the basket including the lid except for the underneath that has 5/16 inch weaving I believe it is made of some type of wicker. Inside the basket is 5/16 inch weaving including the lid except for the bottom of the basket that has 18 inch weaving. ( the lid and the bottom have a double layer of weaving). It measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter and is 11 inches tall. It has 4 wraps of weaving that have come loose on the handle grip but is otherwise in EXCELLENT Condition.
