Gorgeous vintage McCoy stoneware low round vase in the leaf & berry pattern, circa 1930s in the rare deep matte cobalt blue glaze, with the added touch of some deep red on the berries—stunning. The cobalt blue was extremely difficult for them to do—the glaze would easily pollute the lighter colors, so they only did limited runs and then had to do a thorough clean-up before returning to other colors. The low round vase sits 6" high, approx. 7.5" around and is in excellent factory condition. There is one small glaze miss on the base (could be a flea bite, but looks to be in the glaze, see photo), but no other flea bites, cracks or chips—only the typical McFlaws, as produced. Beautiful crisp mold detail with slight highlighted edges (sometimes this pattern is very soft and undefined). I am a long-time McCoy collector, and the cobalt blue has always been among my most prized pieces. As the younger generation tires of mass produced crap from overseas factories, the value of these hand-crafted (and therefore unique & slightly imperfect) American pottery items will only increase.USPS Postal shipping is actual cost. I am extra careful with packing. Check out my other auctions for more interesting pottery this week, including other cobalt pieces as seen in the photo!
