I believe this neon sign dates from the 1930's or 40's. This type of neon sign once had an oval shaped piece of glass with the advertising letters painted on it. The glass would then have been bordered in neon, as you can see in the picture. If you look closely you can make out some of the words on the green oval background, that were left by light fading the areas around the letters. The transformer is still inside the box, but It is untested due to the condition of the cord. This sign is being sold in "as is non-working condition" The oval piece is 21" long...14" high and 5" deep. The sign was manufactured by the American Electric Displays Co. from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
