VINTAGE L&NER RAILWAY TAPE MEASURE IN LEATHER CASE BY CHESTERMAN 66FT Description This is a 66ft waxed or oiled linen tape measure coiled inside a stout leather case with brass fittings. Diameter of the case is 13cm and height 3cm. The item weighs 500g. The leather of the case is embossed "CHESTERMAN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND" on both sides with a large 'LR' on one side also. The brass handle which unfolds is marked on the outside '66FT L&N.E.R". Detail The tape is calibrated in feet and inches on one side and marked off in 8" sections on the other. Condition Unfortunately the brass fitting which would originally have secured the end of the tape is missing - and with it the first couple of inches of tape. The case itself is very robust and is still intact with original stitching. It has some surface scratches and marks, including what appears to be some white paint in a few places, but it also has a lovely rich chestnut sheen. If only this were in better condition it would be a SUPERB vintage item. As it is, it is still an interesting one with much about it that can be appreciated. Terms Payment by Paypal please.
