The reason for the questionmark in my listing has to do with the trunk on the elephant. I bought this item at the auction of the collection of a well known glass dealer and author by the name of Everett Miller. He had this piece labeled "New Martinsville Glass Co. 1930s. In looking at the photo of another similar piece labled as New Martinsville, the trunk on the other elephant was about a quarter of an inch longer. Seeing that, I suspected that the trunk on this one had been broken. Were that the case I was very disappointed as this piece had been represented as perfect at that auction. However, on very careful examination under my lighted magnifying glass it is obvious that this elephant's trunk has never been broken and is indeed perfect. I have taken a photo closeup as best my camera will allow so you can see that the end of the trunk is just as it was manufactured. The question is then, is this New Martinsville or is it a copy? I believe it is legitimate, as the character and reputation of the Everett Miller family is above reproach. This elephant measures 6 1/2 inches long and 4 1/2 inches tall. I will let you decide. If any of you nice glass experts out t can shed any light on my question, I would appreciate hearing from you, and would publish your comments in my listing. I have placed a low opening bid price read more
