Estate Auction. Over the next few weeks I will be listing numerous items acquired from the estate of Ms. B. The bulk of items to be auctioned were acquired by Ms. B while she worked in and around Yokahama Japan. Ms. B was 23 years old in 1952 when she found her way (alone), from the mid west to Seattle w she boarded a troop transport for her new job as a stenographer (GS-3) for the United States Military. She was part of the Japan Tour, the wave of civilian contract workers who lived, worked and traveled extensively throughout Japan during reconstruction (occupied Japan). Ms B. lived in Japan through December 1954. Ms. B. was a free spirt with a love for travel and adventure, and between 1952 and 1954 Japan was for her to discover. In addition to her work as an accomplished stenographer (incredibly detailed person), Ms. B. was an avid photographer and writer. During her time in Japan, Ms. B. never missed the opportunity to take pictures. As a result, I have, from this estate, boxes of 35mm slides, organized and labled, a still life documentary of Japan in the early 1950's. One of my favorite photo's is a picture of a very confident Ms. B. with her trusty Argus slung over her shoulder. (yes, I have that camera). Coupled with the photographs are hundreds of letters and her journals. It appears to me that certain things were very important to her and consequently Ms. B. did not (or could not), discard anything to do with her years in Japan. Some of the items up for auction , some of her many purchases are still in their original packaging, only removed to be photographed. During her stay in Japan Ms. B. collected jewelry consisting of jade, pearls, coral and certain material that evidentually cannot be shipped outside the US.. In addition t are many miscellaneous items, books, china, prints, clothing, and nic nacks, ordinary items for those times , that with the passage of time become quaint. I have spent the last year pouring over the photographs, letters, travel orders. maps and specific items up for auction. Because of her penchant for detail, I have a good understanding when and w Ms. B made these purchases. Having said that, I cannot represent that I am an expert on occupied japan or the items up for auction. If I state a particulars about an item, that is because I found reference to the item in pictures, letters or journals. I have also had quite a few of the items appraised, and while I strive to set auctions at no reserve, some items must have a reserve to protect investment. Some auction items will not be from Ms. B's years in Japan and to aviod any confusion, I will state as much during auctions. Throughout the duration of this auction period, please feel free to ask questions. I will do my best to offer fair and honest answers. Shipping will be free or at cost, depending on the item listed, and I shall provide free insurance on certain items. I ship worldwide. THIS AUCTION : I believe Ms B made this purchase at Yamato Bros on Ginza Street in Tokyo. This auction is for a beautiful NOH PLAY bracelet. This bracelet measures 8 in length. Each masks measure 3/4 of an inch tall by 1/2 inch. This bracelet depicts the four traditional masks, two times. The slid- in clasp works just fine. These masks are held together by chain and a keeper chain is attached to both ends of this bracelet as well. The clasp is stamped silver. This bracelet is in very good condition. I do not have the original box for this bracelet. I accept money orders, pay pal, cashier and personal checks.
