Item: 6 Pc VINTAGE DINNERWARE SET Noritake “Goldbelle” Discontinued 1938 Researched partial history –The backstamp with an “M” inside a wreath stands for Morimura & was thought to be used from 1914 – 1940. Most Noritake dinnerware during this period had liberal applications of gold. Personal history of this dinnerware – It was purchased at an estate sale & the family said that it was purchased in the 1920s. The young bride, after using the dinnerware a couple of times, dropped all of the plates. She was horrified & immediately stored all of the rest of the service & didn’t use it again. This appears to be true. The service is in excellent condition & no dinner plates are available. Description : Green & gold leaves surround the rim of the items with cream & gold circles of decoration. · Included in set is: - 1 Salad plate – 7 5/8 inches - 1 Bread & Butter plate – 6 3/8 inches - 1 Rimmed Fruit/Dessert Bowl – 5 5/8 inches - 1 Rimmed Soup bowl – 8 1/8 inches - 1 cup - 1 saucer Condition : (See above description.) · Pre-owned – these were purchased at an estate sale. I’ve seen no chips or cracks. · The surfaces are shiny & we haven’t seen utensil marks · The gold is in excellent condition with an occasional spot of darkening · The cups have some of the gold rubbed off of their lower handles – probably due to being stacked. read more
