I quick note on his career; Graduated 1947 Barberton High, starred and was an All-American for Notre Dame 49-51. Second round draft choice, played 13 years in NFL and was 4 time pro bowler. Played in the 1952 college all star game. Bob was inducted in the Barberton Hall of Fame along with Bo, 1979, the first class inducted. His brother George was inducted in 1980 (Ohio State). The Bo autographed program is from 1988. Also, as to condition, I see light stains on the numbers but no tears or repairs. Purchased from a friend who obtained all of this at a home sale in the Cleveland Ohio area. There were a few items not purchased such as his brother Bob's military dog tags and his Notre Dame letter award certificate signed by Moose Krause. Included in my purchase and photographed is The Barberton sports Hall of Fame programs (2) from 1979 and the large one "To Mary, Bless the mother of George and Bob . Good Luck, Bo", a high school football of him, the official Barberton Sports Hall of Fame official photo in frame, 2 Notre Dame team photos from 1946 and 1947, one autographed by Johnny Lujack, a photo from a studio of Bob and Ohio State brother George, a Junior high letter award, a paper shot put award from junior high (Lincoln), a program photo but I do not know who he is, a nice Barberton high school team photo from 1945, and his senior yearbook, Barberton 1947. I purchased all of these items along with the Notre Dame jersey and the college all star jersey. The green Notre Dame jersey was purchased by me last year and is here only to show the "dry clean only" tag. As you can see, the crotch strap with the tagging is NOT present in the blue jersey. In trying to compare, the dry clean tag looks the same, the crotch buttons look identicle - the green buttons were sewn on in a figure 8 pattern while the navy was sewn on back and forth, never going over the direct center. Also there is a difference in the size of the numbers, with the green jersey numbers being 5 3/4" and 7 1/2 on the back compared to the navy numbers at a larger 7 1/2 and 9 1/2. As to size, from seam to seam under the shoulders is about 22, from the neck line down is about 26. The sleeve is about 21" long and the jersey at the waist is about 19. It is very, very close to the green ND jersey I have that is a size 44 by KING Sportswear company. Here is what I know; These 2 jerseys and all the paper items were in an estate sale from contents of a Toneff household member. Bob passed away this year. I do not know if he wore these jerseys or not. Was this an Angelo Bertelli jersey that was handed down to the freshmen and worn for practice ? Did Bob ever wear it ?? And when he played in the college all star game, I am not familiar with him wearing number 80 !!! You can see with certainty the college all star jersey is real (which I am not selling). But without the crotch tagging, I can't offer you any more proof that this is a Notre Dame jersey !! The note to his mother from Bo sure helps to prove it, along with all the paper items ! That's as much as I know - I wish I had more. I believe it is a ND jersey, but cannot prove it nor can I prove he wore it. Hopefully, I've answered your questions ! 10 day auction. Hope there is a ND collector out there that knows more than I !! To summerize, all was together and purchased individually. I left a couple of items, the jerseys absolutely part of the Toneff group. That's it !!! Everthing paper is included except the Bo autographed program. I'll sell that separately. All star jersey and green jersey not for sale. Just the navy jersey. Thanks !! read more
