I bought this gorgeous pair of figurine lamps made in Occupied Japan from a Grosse Pointe Mi.Estate sale years ago.Collectors of Occupied Japan items know that they produced items of quality equal to,& sometimes surpassing German made items. This is a really well made and finely detailed set that proves it.Note her dainty little feet, the necklace on her, their finely done facial features & how intricately they are handpainted. The owner of the Company that did the sale, thinking these closely resembled a Meissen set, removed the lamp base to check for the mark on bottom. He broke the tip of the dogs tail, which is hard to notice unless u know it's gone.In any case, the mark turned out to be Occupied Japan.I believe the name of Co. they were made for is New Ster. This set is featured in Lynette Palmers 1996 book Collecting Occupied Japan,pg 55.I have not re-assembled the male figure to base, but will do so & have them wired if winning bidder desires.. Figures are 7"T,set on base 13.5"T. Good Luck Check out my other items ! I try to examine & gently clean all my items carefully, and to list any defects,so returns will be unnecessary. If item is not as descri ... read more
