Vintage Odd Fellows hat, used in lodge ceremonies. Came from a closed lodge in Pennsylvania. Blue velvet with yellow embroidery/stitching. The brim, which stands upright, has some stiffness to it -- presumably to help it keep its shape. The crown/top is very soft -- presumably to allow it to fit snugly by conforming to the wearer's noggin. Although not all lodge members have historically kept themselves in tip-top physical condition, this particular hat might have been owned by a jock. There's a tag sewn inside which reads: "Vice Grand Supporter - Assistant Priest". Too, there's a tag which reads "The C.E. Ward Co. - New London, Ohio - 3". This particular hat/cap oddly reminds me of the mystical fraternal lodge scene in "Peggy Sue Got Married". Remember that one? And I quote: Peggy Sue: "Grandpa! Do you have to wear that hat?"Grampa: "Wouldn't be a lodge without hats." Please note that only the hat is for sale. No other props shown in photographs in this listing are included in the sale. Please view all pictures carefully in order to judge condition for yourself. Minor wear commensurate with age. Please ask all questions before end of auction, and I’ll do my best to supply answers.
