Up for bid is a vintage oil lamp that I believe dates to the early 1900's and perhaps earlier. I'm not certain of who manufactured this lamp but the oil burner adjustment knob has the following on it "W.B.G. Corp. - Eldorado". The base is cast iron with what I believe to be a stump with floral design above the base. I am uncertain of what the stump is made of but it appears to be hand painted (my guess is that it is made of a cast metal...it is not iron however since a magnet does not stick to it). The glass font has what I would call a snowflake design on it. The burner is made of brass. The wick moves freely when the adjustment knob is turned. I do not detect any chips or cracks in the glass font. The unit stands 13" tall. Some of the black paint is missing on the base. The lamp lacks a chimney. Please note that I have added the following on 12/10/06 - I have, since I posted this listing, notice a couple of very small/short hairline type of cracks inside the font w the base is glued to the font (the cracks cannot be seen when viewing the outside of the font). I'm not sure how these cracks would effect the lamp's ability to hold oil. The hairline cracks do not appear to be sever. I would not have noticed them if not for a fellow eBayer's question to determine how the font was attached to the base. Thank you for your interest in read more
