Up for auction today is a very interesting oil painting. I believe it's oil but could be acrylic - not sure of the difference. There is a rough texture to the painting. I believe the artist is French......her name is Alice Emilie Elise Marie Carissan. She was awarded the silver medal at the Salon of 1934. This painting is a very unusual size - it is 62" tall and 18" wide. It stands vertical instead of horizontal. It is framed in a plain wood frame (carved around the edge) that measures about 2" deep. The flowers are just beautiful! The back is covered with brown paper but needs to be replace since there are small puncture along the edges on the back. The painting itself is in excellent condition with no holes or stains. Shipping in the US will be $30 due to sheer size - it will be charged as an "oversize". It will be insured.
