This auction is for a great Western oil by California artist Gray Bartlett [1885-1951]. It is 16 by 20, oil on board, and in excellent condition. It is signed and dated 1940. It is titled on the reverse "The Scouts". It is in the original frame which is in good condition with some loss of gilding. Gray Bartlett is a well known artist and his paintings have sold for up to $26,000 at auction [Bio to follow]. He is known for Western scenes of this type and this is one of the best I have seen.
