This Alaskan doll is really special - check out that face! She has a real aliveness to her, and very sweet. Beaded eyes and teeth (fabulous!). Formed and sewn nose. This lady is gathering wood, and she has strips of wood in one hand and a seal skin basket of kindling in the other (and, yes, it is filled with bits of wood). Everything is hand sewn. She appears to be made of some sort of filler, such as cotton batting, with wire on the inside. Yes, she can stand on her own. Doll measures 12" tall from top of her beaver fur hat to bottoms of her seal skin-covered feet. She is wearing the traditional dress of Alaskan Native women (since the import of trade cloth): a cotton calico dress in traditional style, brown cotton trousers for warmth, seal skin mukluks, rabbit fur mittens and a beaver fur hat. So, her outfit is a miniature of the correct fabrics and furs that would outfit a woman! Vintage 1960s. From our collection.... In A+ minty condition. Please email with any questions.
