First of all, I would like to say that I do not know anything about old knives like this one.I purchased this at a local shop beacuse I thought that it might be a WWII knife, and might be historically important. For Ebay's sake let me make it clear, that this is NOT an Nazi knife or item. It took me forever to find out that indeed this was a rare German knife, but from the 1950's. T are two versions of this knife. This one is the RARE Hard-to-Find model. The more easy-to-find common model has a larger hand guard. These sell for $50 or more on Ebay. ( Please seach completed sales, you will see it's true ) This is what I have been able to find out. If any of this information is in error, please let me know so I can make the corrections. This is a highly-collectable Black Forest Hunting Knife, hand-forged in Germany by Korium . It is made out of the highly prized Solingen Steel (SS). They are carefully weighted and balanced since they were made as throwing knives. T are three different knives put out by the manufacturer. The other two feature a naked woman on the handle and an eagle on the other. According to some listings, these are silver-coated. I do not think that is correct since I did not read that in the original ads. Knife is 10 inches long, with an 6 inch blade. Overall in great condition considering the age. Since these were handmade, they do vary greatly from knife to knife. This one has one of the BEST handles that I have seen. Great details and almost No Wear from the looks of it. The handle is what you are buying this knife for, anyway. The eagle's claw circling a globe (or ball) (Ball & Claw) is very striking. Only sharpened on one edge and the top front tip. The very, very tip is chipped off. It is only missing about 1/8 of an inch ( or less ). I hear that this is very common in throwing knives and does not effect the price. It is expected wear and tear. T is some very slight rust (?) and spotting. I do not think t is any pitting. When you run your fingers over the blade it feels very smooth and flaw-free . This knife would be beautiful polished up and in a display case. The small peice of leather, between the grip and the blade is long gone. It is stamped on the blade " KORIUM ~ FORGED SOLINGEN STEEL ~ MADE IN GERMANY ." Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding. I am happy to include the information that I found on this knife to the winner. But, I am sure that any buyers Already know MUCH MORE about it than I do. This would be a great present for that hunter, or sportsman on your Christmas List . A true must-have for the serous knife collector or Veteran . Thank you so much for looking and Happy Bidding. Merry Christmas Ebay! Feel free to ask any questions, but as I said, you now know everything that I do. We will happily ship overseas, however shipping is much higher .
