This is a lovely olive wood box measuring 6" long x 5" wide x 3" deep. It is lined in turquoise silk which is still intact although as can be seen is a little discoloured/faded on the inside base. The lock & catch still fit nicely however the key is missing, it appears to be a simple lock so a similar small hollow key may fit? Both hinges are still securely mounted. It is great condition for age, I think it is about 30 or 40 years old. There is a small crack along the grain of the wood on the base however this has not affected the structure of the base which is still secure. The top of the box is marked 'Jerusalem' so I am assuming this is likely to originally have been made in Israel. I can't tell whether the lettering is printed or in pyrography as it has been worn smooth over the years.Whether you want an item associated with Christianity, Judaism or simply a great little trinket or jewellery box I am sure this would work...I have tried to cover everything but please contact me if you want to know more. Thanks for l@@king.
