Hello Onkyo and / or vintage audio enthusiasts and collectors . . . For your consideration - this vintage Onkyo Model A-5 solid state stereo integrated amplifier …in excellent, 100% working condition. This audio component was among many other high-end electronic items that were part of a local estate auction, once belonging to a local audiophile. I have been using for several days, prior to posting this description. First, let me say this amp is a powerhouse! It has no trouble at all driving my Acoustic Research AR-3a speakers …even better than my contemporary, more-powerful Onkyo TX-860 receiver with its wimpy IC (or whatever it has) output circuits. I believe the Model A-5 is rated at 45 watts-per-channel into an 8-ohm load, and 60 wpc at 4-ohms …Nice! Front panel width is the standard, 17½" rack mount width. Packaged up, the unit weighs about 30 pounds. Some nice features… pre-amp & power amp in & out jacks, so you can isolate the 2 sections and combine with other components; source monitor 2 complete tape decks with tape dubbing in both directions …A to B or B to A, all selectable from the front panel, with no wire switching from behind. Observations: all functions, input & output, seem to be 100%. All level controls & switches are noise-free, with just one exception… the tuner / phono selector switch, but only when being moved read more
