This is a Vintage U.S. 49 Star Flag. The flag is 36" x 48" not including the gold fringe. The colors are very deep navy and red and no fading of these colors. The white is not as bright. Each strip is sewn together and each star is sewn on separately. The flag is double sided so you have stars on each side. As to the material, it is a woven type (see pictures for details). The flag is in excellent condition as there are no stains, rips, holes, or repairs. Only a couple of gold fringe is missing on the lower right turn of the flag (see picture). This flag was well taken care of. Any questions, please feel free to email me. Note added: The 49 Star Flag was used from 1959-1960 when Alaska became the 49th state.
