Up for bids is this very nice looking Zenith tube wood AM FM/AFC radio in good working condition. The model number on this wonderful radio is K731 & it was produced in the 1959 to the 1963 era. The cabinet is all original that is solid & tight with no missing veneer. This cabinet has been cleaned & polished which still retains it's original sheen or shine finish that looks great & the grain in the wood looks fabulous as well. The wood cabinet looks great but it is not perfect as there a a couple of light scratches & some nicks from age & use. For a radio that is 57yrs old & in it's original finish it looks very nice. I have taken many pictures so you may get a good view at this amazing looking & working radio.The plastic AM FM slide rule dial scale is in very food condition with good graphics & working dial pointer. This radio did not come with a dial scale light. The 3 control knobs are original & in good condition & the switch to change the band from AM to FM is in good condition. The wicker speaker grille cloth is in good clean cosmetic condition but it has shrunk a little & pulled away from the right side edge. The original back panel is present & in great condition.The chassis is a 7-tube unit with 3-controls & 1-switch & all the controls & switch operate as they should. The electric cord is original & in good condition that can be safely plugged in. This radio is operating good on all of it's original electronic components & is being sold in as-is condition.When this nice looking Zenith is powered up, it pulls in AM & FM stations all across that nice looking dial scale & plays them nicely with plenty of volume in my area. When using the FM band you have to turn the tone control more to the treble side as it produces way to much bass at a louder volume on the FM band.This is a vintage radio & must be handled & cared for & treated in this manor & not like a modern day boombox. Tube radio technology "unlike modern day solid state radios" can have interference/noise in the sound quality, caused by kitchen appliances, computer monitors, flat screen TV'S, florescent lights, washing machines, high power wires/lines above your home, etc... So where you position/place this radio in your home can make a huge difference & the direction/position it is set in. A lot of tube radios are directional meaning you "may" have to turn the radio one way or the other to receive the best reception. Tube radios usually take 30 to 45 seconds after they have been turned/powered ON before they start playing as the tubes have to warm up.The size of this wonderful gem is 15-3/4" long 7-1/2" wide & 10-1/4" high. I would "ESTIMATE" the shipping cost to be around $21.95 plus or minus a couple dollars (depending on your location) INSURED & mailed in the USA.
