This is a vintage western copper horse. The detailed saddle was made separately and then securely attached to the horse. The reins are attached to a bridle bit. I have done some research on copper horses, and the originals had a lot of detail, included a separately made saddle and had a bridal bit. The original molds were expensive, so when they wore out, a new mold was made by casting from one of the original horses, thus losing detail. This horse has plenty of detail. The saddle being made separately, the bridle bit and the intricate detail of this horse, seem to indicate this is an original. The base is thick and is made to look like rock and even has some grass carved around the rock. T are no markings that I can find. I have added several photos so you be the judge. Unfortunately, the stirrups are missing. The reins appear to be original, but have been broken and tied back together and also appear shorter than they should be. T are a few scuff marks. Some look like they could be removed. The rest of the statue is in very good condition. In some areas the copper shines beautifully. I have posted several photos to show the condition and how it's made. It measures about 13" tall and weighs 14 pounds. It is an unmarked Dodge, Gladys Brown Edwards model. She is world reknown for her wonderful horses. The collector stated that t is not one this size in her collector book, but that the value of these horses are $100.00 on up. The measurement of 13 inches is the horse and base together. In fact, it's just slightly over 13 inches total. The horse is 10.5 inches from hoof to ears. One of the photos shows the horse next to a ruler. I'm not an expert so I'm not sure if it is solid copper or a wash, but if it is a wash, it is a thick one and it does weigh almost 14 pounds .
