UNIQUE VINTAGE SCHMIDT From Otto Schmidt, I'm pleased to offer this vintage lebkuchen or gingerbread tin with medieval Nuremberg scenes on the top lid and sides. Unlike most of the newer Schmidt tins, the top of tin is flat without the rounded edges, and t is no date or manufacturer imprinted on the bottom. The paper info sheet is still attached to the inside of the lid and identifies the tin in German with the E. Otto Schmidt name. The tin is quite large and measures 12.25 inches wide, 8 inches deep, and 5.5 inches high. Condition: The tin is in very good condition for it's age. T is some overall light wear to the finish from usage over the years, t are some minor surface scrapes and scratches, and a bit more wear on the corners and edges as you might expect. The color is very good, t are no obvious dents and only some slight bends at the hinge. Just barely visible on the closest inspection, t is a very slight overall depression on the lid, and if lay a straight edge on the lid, it is a bit more obvious. The paper sheet that is glued to the inside of the lid has discolored from age as has the glue, and t is some rusting on the bottom and sides of the interior. Please check all the pictures below to better judge the condition. Over the years, the tin has been used as a catchall for various treasures, and now it is time to pass it along for someone else's treasures... or as great addition to a collection.. don't let this special vintage tin slip by.. ~~~~~~~~~~~ J Thank you for your interest!
