This pair will absolutely melt your heart. They are in like new condition, but were manufactured in the 60's or 50's. They are an estate buy and I doubt they were ever worn. Pierre and Fifi (OK, I named them, but you can rename them something more original) each measure 1 3/8 inches tall. Pierre wears a top hat, and has sapphire eyes and a bow tie. Fifi has ruby eyes, a bow in her hair, and a chic choker necklace -er - collar. On the back, each is stamped 969 , then 14K , then F.J.G. I've found other examples of this manufacturer's work for sale on eBay - apparently the number that comes first is the model number, and varies from design to design. These seem to be very collectible. I tested the brooches thoroughly for gold content, and they are solid 14 karat gold. On my scale (which does not like to display odd numbers, apparently) they register as weighing 14 grams total, but each one separately registers at 8 grams. Nearly a ½ ounce of gold, in other words, plus sapphires and rubies. For the poodle lover, the devoted spouse of many years, or just someone who loves retro figural jewelry, this pair would make the ideal gift. Or treat yourself to this sumptuous addition to your collection. The box in the photo is included. Don't know if it's original or not.
