Produced by Bauscher Weiden in Bavaria for the Pan Am Airlines, this is a classic Eames Era Bud Vase. Imagine having todays Southwest Flight Attendant place a cloth-draped tray with Champagne, a Shrimp Cocktail and this vase on your tray. I vaugely remember such service, but now air travel has become a cattle-call, with the only perk being to arrive at your destination on time! But this isn't an air travel blog, it's an online auction, so let's get down to business. Measuring 4.75" tall and just over 3.5" wide, this piece has a gloss white glaze and is fully marked. It may have flown millions of miles, but remains free of chips, cracks or crazing. Likely produced in the 1950's, it is the epitome of by-gone days, when airline service was held in higher regard than revenue miles. I combine auction "victories".
