Description: Very unique piece of Reading, PA memorabilia! This parking meter was manufactured by "The Karpark Corp., Cincinnati, OH" c.1947. This particular model was used in the city of Reading, PA from c.1947-1971. The parking meter has been converted into a lamp, without damaging the integrity of the parking meter. No lamp shade, so you can pick out the standard shade of your choice to compliment your decor. If you don't like it as a lamp...the sturdy wooden base makes a great display pedestal! The meter includes (2) original keys. The brass plaque on the wooden base reads "CITY OF READING, PA, First Parking Meter. Installed December 1947, Retired December 1971". It is a nickel meter (30 minutes for one nickel, 60 minutes for two nickels). Measurements: Parking Meter only: 15-3/4" high, Overall (including base and lamp harp): 38" high, Condition: The meter begins "ticking" when a nickel is inserted. The brass finish has overall patina, pitting and signs of age and use. I am not an expert in parking meters, but will do my best to answer any of your questions.
