VINTAGE PERARD PRINT U.S.M.C. / NAZI WW1 HIST.BATTLE This is a vintage colored print by the internationally known illustrator and painter Victor Perard. Perard was born in Paris in 1870 and later moved to the U.S. It is entitled Battle of Chateau Thierry, and depicts U.S.Marines overrunning the German front lines at this historic battle. T are amazing hand to hand combat scenes, a German machine gun nest, Germans surrendering, with the bridge and the town in the background, and enemy fighters in the sky. It is marked circa 1919 [ just after the war ] Victor Perard, in the lower left, Battle of Chateau Thierry in the middle, and in the lower right in fine print, Pub by Stockinger Photo Eng & Ptg Co. N Y. It is in very good condition, suitable for framing, with great color. T is some staining around the border, a very small tear to the right of the title, a crease down in the border below the artists last name, none of which will show when framed. It looks like it has never been framed, and on the back in the upper right hand corner, written in pencil, is Perard WW1 Print, $120.00, #16, and the initials FC. It is on heavy poster paper. The measurements are approx. 12 " by 16 1/4 " and 16 " by 20 " including the border. This is an old print of a very well done battle scene by a well known artist that really captures the horror of hand to hand deadly combat. Don`t miss it. Buy with confidence.
