LELAND'S 2010 AUCTION SOLD A PETR ROSE BAT FOR $175,000. CHECK THEM OUT When the headlines on July 27, 2009 announcing that Bud Selig is "Seriously Considering" reinstating Rose's 20 year ban from baseball, along with fellow ballplayers like Hank Arron lobbying for Pete to be reinstated, prices on all of Pete's memorabilia have seen an increase especially on his game used items and one of a kind items. It's now just a matter of time before Pete Rose enters baseballs Hall of Fame and items like this one up for auction will be out of reach for most collectors. Pete Rose Autographed Game Used Bat - 1974 There are few items out there with as much historical significance This is a beautifully unique blonde Ash wood Hillerich & Bradsby S222 signature model bat used by Peter Rose during the 1974 season. Without question, this is the the most significant Rose game used bat we've ever had the pleasure of handling, and any true Reds fan or serious collector won't wait another second before making a move to add this specimen to their trove. This bat shows consistent game use evidence including a light handle crack beneath the vintage rubber handle grip - a Rose-specific trait matching known exemplars that adds to the significant overall appeal of this specimen. The grip was applies to the handle for game use, and there exists a light coat of period-appropriate pine tar on the upper handle. The barrel also reflects numerous ball marks and deep stitch impressions - but what else would you expect from a guy like "Charlie Hustle," the games All Time Hits Leader! For Reds fans, another special treat on this beauty are the bright red rack streaks visible across the barrel (see product image). Any true fan of the Big Red Machine will remember the metallic red bat racks inside the team's dugout during the '70s. Rose's 14 is written inside the "cup" (end) and also written in black marker on the knob, while the bat's weight (33-1/2 oz.) is written there in pencil. This bat features a gorgeous, sweeping "Pete Rose" autograph across the barrel's sweet spot, and inscribed "1974" with his signature, adding to the bat's provenance. A careful review of Rose's Professional Bat Ordering Records (PBOR) on file with Louisville Slugger found that there was indeed one order for a S222 model with the notation "cup" (end) made on March 29, 1974 - perfectly matching this fantastic specimen. With every positive detail that this game used bat has going for it, authenticators have given it an final grade of 9 out of 10 - as nice as ANY we've seen offered. Authenticity by PSA/DNA. PAYPAL ONLY. SORRY, NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
