Real Photo,Postcard Circa 1910 the Winning Line, were confident this is a Perry family member, we have other pics of this man, from Perry Album.. Lovely pic, Postcard is used, and worn, card has light grime and is lightly faded, I would say overall condition is fair for age.., a good history postcard. Many of these items have been found whilst clearing the property, we have found a lot from previous occupants, and friends correspondence etc also a lot of history about the property. Most of the history belongs to the LEE and Perry families, with some on the Cranham , lots of correspondence in the early 20 th century, 1904 all the way to the 70’s 80’s Postcards for sale are genuine, postdated where shown, most are 1904 – 1917, some are later, (see applicable advert) Investigations have shown a ‘Family Bible’ and other items mentioning various members of the Lee family and the Perry Family Edward James Lee ( Ted) August 8 th 1872 Thomas Henry Lee Oct 9 th 1874 William John Lee Jan 24 th 1877 Lucy Mary Lee Feb 22 nd 1879 Sarah Elizabeth Lee May 3 rd 1881 George Alfred Lee Aug 17 th 1884 Albert Edward Lee Sept 24 th 1900 Hilda Lee DOB unknown ( approx. 1905) Brian Lee DOB Unknown (approx. 1911) Mrs Frances Lee DOB Unknown (married to Edward James Lee) (sister to Ben on this postcard) Frances’s Brother BEN, who served on HMS DEE , various correspondence from him stating HMS DEE Felixstowe, and later from HMS London We also have another postcard with the 1897 HMS Vindictive with two sailors..Postcards from Felixstowe, Tangiers Apr 2 nd 1907, and Gibraltar, James Sellwood Perry ‘died March 12 th 1910’ (aged 45) Married Alice Mary Cranham on June 23 rd 1887 Frederick William Perry Sept 29 th 1888 Emily May Perry Nov 11 th 1889 Ernest James Perry July 25 th 1891 Frank Perry Oct 29 th 1892 (died 23 rd August 1974) Winifred (winnie-win) Alice Perry Nov 1 st 1895 William Perry DOB unknown (1890’s) He was addressed as Master Perry 1905, A ‘ Captain Coats’ was around the family in 1924/25 not sure of the connection ? Charles Wichans ( correspondence 1910 cousin to William Perry) Many postcards are from ‘TED’ during the WW1, in occupied France in , we assume TED is Edward James Lee.. The Lee family had a great sense of humour as many cards had humorous comments by the sender, poking fun at the recipient, and calling Mrs Lee (frances ‘BOSS’) Its lovely stuff to read, a real sense of family unity. I have obtained a letter from Reading football club’s official historian David Downs that’s mentions a Henry Lee as a player, I believe could be Thomas Henry Lee I have found a genuine 1913 Photo on the premises in the Family album of the READING FOOTBALL TEAM , quite possibly the only photo left of the team before WW1 , the 1913 team was the team that Toured Italy and beat their NATIONAL team.. Henry’s description in the national press, ‘a dashing and fast player, he plays a clean game’. It was not unusual back then for a player to be in his 30’s He played in the 1910/11/12 seasons and made 85 appearances Scoring 13 goals, very little is known of the 1913 season. So the Lee Family had hero’s off and on the field. The property has been left in a sad state of disrepair, one being empty for nearly 60 years, our aim is to use ALL the money on items sold to sympathetically restore the cottages, and bring them back to life.
