VINTAGE LEATHER FRAME TRIO - NEEDLEPOINT IMAGES.

This unusual trio of needlepoint pieces is framed with elaborate leather frames! I think they qualify as 'folk art' because the frames appear to be handmade. Each frame is covered with floral and sculptural motifs all constructed with leather pieces. Some of the leather has been tooled to give added texture and visual interest. The whole effect created is one of thickness and texture.
The central frame is ovoid with four large leaf -and-bloom motifs. Thisis 18 inches by 14 inches and the image opening is 7 inches by 4 1/2 inches. the image is of an 18th Century woman holding a parisole. Her elaborate dress is decorated with yellow flowers and green leaves. T is a matte to this image. Everything is in good condition - both the frame and the needlework.
The smaller frames.
These are round in format with an 8 inch diameter. They too have four floral motifs with 3 1/2 inch images of 18th Century figures - a man and a woman - in needlework. The condition of both the needlework and the frames is good.
Perhaps you would like to remove the needle work from the frames. Each element - the frames and the needlework - is desireable on its own. T are no labels on the pieces so I haven't any idea when or were they were made.
