~FRENCH VINTAGE LINENS AND ANTIQUES~ W you will find Beautiful and Unusual Vintage Linens and Apparel from France ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Superb Group of Six French Pillow Shams--Fine Hemstitching, Beautiful Embroidery, Lace~ This group of 6 different European type pillow shams were made and found in France. They measure from about 28 to 30 inches square. They are all made of fine linen and are white in color. The group is superb vintage condition. One has a small repair in 2 corners which is hidden in the emboidery and t is the occasional pin dot sized stain, but overall they are truly in Excellent Condition and ready to be used for a long time to come . Some are monogrammed, others not, some are edged in fine hand crocheted lace or scalloped embroidery, some have fine hemstitching, but each one is a truly lovely example of fine French needlework. They all close in the back with buttons and all buttons are in place. I have gently washed and ironed these lovely linens. These cases represent the work of craftswomen of a bygone era. This type of handwork has all but vanished in Europe, never to be seen again, so these items have become quite rare and much sought after. These beautiful handmade cases would be a lovely addition to any bedroom. We ship by French Priority Airmail worldwide and although French postal charges went up on March 1, we have not increased our standard shipping charges. We make every effort to charge the actual cost with a tiny percentage for packing and handling, but because the dollar/euro exchange rate constantly flucuates it is impossible to be absolutely precise. Shipping by French Priority Airmail has been 100% reliable so far. Very few of our clients actually request insurance and to date, all the items we have shipped in France and abroad have arrived. So we think the French postal service is wonderful in every way except one. Insurance costs for items like this are absurdly high. The Standard Flat Rate for insuring an item like this- up to one kilo (a little over 2 lbs)- is 21 euros, (even though that does include postage as well), or over $31.00!--for up to 2 kilos it is nearly $40.00. We know this to be unacceptable to our clients, so we now propose this: Should you wish to insure you parcel, we ourselves will offer Optional Insurance for a flat rate of $4.00 per parcel up to 2 kilos and with a value up to $200.00.* This means that we agree to refund the full purchase price of your items, if you inform us that you have not received your parcel within 21 days of being notified that your parcel has been shipped. Shipping charges would remain the purchasers responsibility. Because eBay is so much based on trust, we feel that this is in the eBay spirit. As before, if you do not opt for official French insurance or our optional insurance, naturally we cannot be responsible for loss of or damage to your purchase in transit. But again may I emphasize that we have had 100% success with French shipping and that the majority of our clients do not request insurance . *For heavier parcels or parcels of greater value, request rates. We wish it were less expensive to ship from France to the US, Canada, Japan and other international destinations, but we charge rates that reflect our actual costs, often-times absorbing some of the shipping costs ourselves. It has been from the beginning, and continues to be, our policy not to profit on shipping charges and to keep them as reasonable as possible.
