This unbalance may occur because of tube aging or replacement. Many high quality amplifiers have balance controls but require a meter or distortion analyzer to indicate the required adjustment. The Pilot 602 has such balance controls and has in addition the exclusive SIMPLI-MATIC test panel that allows you to make the adjustments without external meters. With the VOLUME control set to minimum, press and release the channel A test button on the SIMPLI-MATIC panel and listen for clicking sounds from the channel A speaker. If you do not hear any, then the channel A output tubes are balanced . If you do hear clicks, rotate the channel A DC Balance Control until none are heard when the button is repeatedly pressed and released. Repeat this procedure using the channel B button, speaker and Balance Control. If no adjustment is possible and the output tubes will not balance, then one or both should be replaced
