VINTAGE SPOKE SHAVE PATENT 1866 This Spoke Shave is 10 1/4 inches long. I have not seen another one with the patent date forged into it. On the handles it's forged " PATENT JUNE 19 1866 ". You can see this in the pictures. I don't see any other marks on the plane. I have not taken the blades out. This has the double blades with one being for straight cutting and the other one for concave cutting. Stanley made most of these spoke shaves but they stamped most of them with their name. Actually, most all the spoke shaves you see for sale on Ebay are made by Stanley. I have been told that some of the early Stanley products do not bear their name. You decide on whether this is an early Stanley. If I can answer any questions to help you further identify the spoke shave, feel free to contact me.
